A few things are worth knowing before you print or share a Discord invite QR code, especially how invite expiration, sizing and error correction affect whether it keeps working.
Can I turn a Discord invite into a QR code?
Yes. A Discord invite is just a normal URL, so it can be encoded into a QR code the same as any other link. What matters is the invite itself, not the QR image. If the invite later stops working, the QR code will still exist and still scan, but it'll just point people to an invite that no longer goes anywhere.
Do Discord QR codes expire?
The QR image itself doesn't expire. What can expire is the Discord invite encoded inside it, and that depends entirely on how the invite was set up. If the invite reaches its time limit, hits its use limit, or gets deleted, the QR code keeps working as a QR code. Scanning it will just lead to an invalid invite screen instead of your server.
How do I make a Discord invite that never expires?
When you create or edit an invite in Discord, set "Expire After" to Never and "Max Uses" to No Limit, then generate the link. According to Discord's own support documentation, non-expiring invites are available in Community Servers. If you don't see that option on a non-Community server, it may not be offered for that server, so it's worth checking your invite settings directly before printing anything.
Can a Discord QR code be permanent?
It can keep working for as long as the invite inside it stays valid. For anything printed and hard to update, such as posters, business cards or event signage, use a non-expiring invite if your server supports one, and test the code before you print multiple copies. Discord invites can still be deleted manually at any time by someone with the right permissions, so "permanent" here means "no automatic expiration," not an absolute guarantee.
Why did my Discord QR code stop working?
Almost always it's the invite, not the QR code. Open the original invite URL directly in a browser: if you get an "Invite Invalid" page, the invite itself has expired, hit its use limit, or been deleted. If the direct link works but the QR code doesn't scan, check that the printed version has enough contrast and isn't too small or damaged. If the invite is genuinely dead, create a new one in Discord and generate a fresh QR code, since the old one can't be revived.
Can I put a Discord QR code on a poster?
Yes. This is a common use for it. A few things make a printed QR code actually scan reliably: leave clear white space around the code rather than crowding it with other design elements. Use strong contrast between the QR code and its background, ideally a dark code on a light background, and avoid placing it over a busy image. Don't make it unnecessarily small. The further away people will scan it from, the larger it should be. Print one test copy and scan it from roughly the distance people will actually use before committing to a full print run.
Can I add a logo to a Discord QR code?
Yes, this tool supports adding a Discord logo or your own uploaded image to the center of the code. A logo covers part of the QR pattern, so the tool automatically switches error correction to High when you add one. That extra redundancy is what keeps the code scannable with a chunk of it covered. Keep the logo reasonably small relative to the code, and test the result on more than one phone before using it anywhere printed.
What QR error correction level should I use?
For a plain QR code with no logo, Medium is a good default because it balances scanning reliability with a relatively simple pattern. Low can be useful when the code will stay clean and you want the least extra redundancy. Quartile and High add more error correction, which can help when a code includes a logo or may be worn, dirty or partly obscured. This tool automatically switches to High when you add a logo.
